BLACK - PROJECT
This project has been floating around in my head for a while now and it’s finally time to reveal it and start creating. Wooohooo I'm beyond excited and I can't wait to get started. So let's do this!
BLACK PROJECT
WHAT IS IT AND WHY?
Because ... black is my favorite color. hihi
Because I have a soft spot for black animals. I shared 16 years of my life with the most awesome black kitty named Diablo (cliché I know).
Did you know that blackies are often the last to be adopted in shelters? Some people have prejudices against them... they look mysterious, dangerous, and they scare some folks. Like the superstition of the black cat that brings bad luck ... hahaha yeah right!
And they're the most difficult to photograph when you don't have the right equipment, lighting, or techniques.
As part of this long-term project, we will create a series of tableaux showing off these magnificent beasts in all their glory, elegance and sweet badassness. The final images will be in color but in black and white. Monochrome lifestyle photos, that will be dynamic and full of personality. (Some photos below as an example)
Each session will be adapted to the dog's unique character. (I say dog but other animals can participate too ... cat, rabbit, ferret, rat, bat, crow ...)
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
So you’ve guessed it… I’m looking for black animals. They can be all black, black and white, gray / black, brindle, merle, dotted.
Any race / mix of breeds, age, size and level of obedience accepted. Dogs with a disability are welcome.
I will prioritize animals adopted in shelters, from organizations, with foster families and also adopted from ethical breeders.
(And if there is a shelter that reads this and would like to participate with animals up for adoption, please contact me!)
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE
A free session of course. You will receive a copy of the photo(s) that I will be using, needless to say. And of course if you want additional photos, (or take the opportunity to get some wall art or an album), a web gallery of images will be sent to you following the session.
TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECT
Send me a photo of the dog, with a small paragraph describing why you want to participate in this project.
chantal@clevesquephoto.com
Only selected dogs will be contacted. And since this is a long-term project, you may be contacted later in 2020.
The photoshoots will take place in Montreal, except in exceptional cases.
WHAT WILL be the end result?
It is not yet clearly defined in my head (calendar, book, exhibition ...) but we will see when we are further along.
A big THANK YOU advance !! I am way too eager to see the candidates and start the photo shoots.
*update: I have created a page in my portfolio section with my Black project images. Have a look HERE.
